How do you take all my experiences in life and jam them into 3 or 4 sentences that have anything to do with kidlit? Just like Ella, I find this difficult. Here's me in a nutshell...
I'm a little odd, a little different, a little crazy, a little weird, a little goofy, a little girly, a lot tomboyish, a lot geeky, maybe even a bit nerdy. I don't fit in with any crowd. I'm too shy to meet new friends. I do know it's a whole lot easier with the interwebs to open up and meet like minded people. I love to read. I love to write. And I hope one day to become a published author. But currently, I am stuck in the IT field. I am a MomMom to my 8 year old son. I am best friend, soul mate, wife, and caregiver to my disabled Vet hubby. I am staff to my cats. And I still try to make time to work on my writing.
But, how? how do you make that professional?
This is what I have come up with and have sent out once or twice (it actually sounds quite boring and I like the above much better):
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in English with a Writing Concentration. I am currently attending local SCBWI and Florida Writer’s Association meetings. I also have several picture book manuscripts that are works in progress and close to submission ready.
I've heard differing things on including the fact that you are not yet published, so I err on the side of making me look naive and just omit it. What do you all think?

The top bio is perfect for a twitter/Facebook page/etc bio.
The second, although less fun, is definitely the more professional one that I would include in cover/query letters. However, you should take out the line: -I also have several picture book manuscripts that are works in progress and close to submission ready.-
as it makes it sound like the ms you are querying may not actually be ready. Every editor is going to want to edit your work, but you should always present it as the final draft. After all, if you don't think it's quite ready, you probably aren't trying to get folks to look at it yet.
I realize that bios can be kind of dull, but really you're just trying to get the pertinent info across.
